Puzzling advertisement for NBN Co broadband in the Beaudesert Times

On Wednesday 16 May 2012 an advertisement appeared in the "Beaudesert Times" newspaper singing the praises on our new National Broadband Network.

Now, many residents of the Scenic Rim Regional Council area would actually be delighted to get better broadband, specially in the rural regions where a real good and fast Internet connection is hard to come by.  And in this light it is a little puzzling why this ad appeared at this time in Beaudesert, as none of the suburbs, villages and localities within the Scenic Rim Regional Council area have been listed on the latest NBN Co three year roll-out map.  In earlier NBN Co material Canungra, Boonah and Rathdowney were listed to get a service but as it appears now that is unlikely to happen within the next three year roll-out schedule.   Leaves us really puzzled as why someone should advertise to provide a fibre optic broadband service in Beaudesert which no resident will be able to get for at least the next three years or so.

And without a time schedule thereafter either.

So, if you wanted fibre broadband in Beaudesert, you better start getting friends with people who have the tractors to dig the trenches..........
